AlphaJet Airlines Pty Ltd, formerly VivaJet, is a proposed Australian domestic airline. Originally planned to begin scheduled services in November 2008, due to CASA regulations inherent in gaining an Air Operator's Certificate, their current start date is unknown. The company was founded on 10 October 2006 and is incorporated in Melbourne. [http://www.alphajet.com.au/team.html]

The company's financers have allegedly been in talks with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer to acquire E-170 and E-190 aircraft for use in domestic operations. The ATR-72 and the Airbus A300F are also under consideration. The airline proposes to begin with a service between Melbourne Airport and Sydney Airport and later plans to expand to Gold Coast, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and Hobart. AlphaJet intends to target themselves to business travellers rather than to the low cost carrier market. Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority, however, has stated that, having not yet begun the lengthy process of gaining their Air Operator's Certificate, and with no fleet, it would be impossible for AlphaJet to begin flying in 2008.
