Gateway Station is a proposed multimodal transit center to serve the LYNX Purple Line commuter rail, Silver Line BRT or light rail and both the West Corridor and Center City Corridor streetcar service in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, U.S.A.. Additionally, the station is proposed to serve Amtrak, Greyhound inter-city buses as well as local CATS buses. To be constructed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and financed by state, federal government, Amtrak, Greyhound, CATS and private developers, it is expected to be complete by 2012.cite news

In 1991, the city of Charlotte announced the proposed site along West Trade Street as the preferred location for a replacement facility for the existing Amtrak station along North Tryon Street.cite news

As originally presented, the station will feature an underground station for CATS buses, a 100,000 square foot office building, and soaring lobby for other rail and bus services in the building's atrium.
