Kurukshetra (Kargil) is the sequel of Malayalam film Kirtichakra , Aran in Tamil in which Mohanlal plays the role of Major Mahadevan. In this, his character will be promoted to Colonel . The film will be released in Malayalam,Hindi & Tamil.

The film will be preceded by Kirtichakra starring Mohanlal, Jeeva and will be succeeded by Kandahar starring Mohanlal, Kamal Hassan which will be based on the Kandahar plane hijack.

Major Ravi is likely to shoot the film in Leh and a few other mountainous places in Himachal Pradesh. The film will be shot in high altitudes such as 13500 feet.
