Armoured Combat of the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus (1974)

On the20th of July 1974, Turkey launched a combined air and sea invasion of the northern portion of the Republic of Cyprus following a coup by the Greek-backed Cypriot National Guard against President Makarios III five days earlier. The Turkish invasion included the naval transportation of large quantities of armoured vehicles to northern Cyprus to fight against the Greek-Cypriots, who had their own armoured force on the island.
