The 2013 Summer Universiade, the XXVII Summer Universiade, is scheduled for Kazan, Russia. Kazan is a capital of the Republic of Tatarstan is located 800 km east of Moscow, the federal capital, is a busy hub and one of the fastest growing cities in the world. The city have the biggest student community in the region.

Bid selection

The cities of Kazan, Russia, Vigo, Spain and Gwangju, Korea were in contention for the Games. On May 31, 2008, FISU announced that the host would be Kazan. [ [http://www.fisu.net/site/page_2293.php Universiades for 2013 attributed] ] .

Kazan was not considered a favorite as several other sporting competitions have been assigned to Russia in recent years including the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.Fact|date=June 2008
