Brisbane has been announced as the Australian candidate with Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (formally ANZ Stadium) the proposed venue. The venue previously hosted the1982 Commonwealth Games and2001 Goodwill Games . The event would be held in July/August 2011 if Brisbane is successful. It was a failed bidder for the2009 World Championships in Athletics which was eventually won byBerlin .Melbourne, the host of the
