Thomas Carr (bishop)

The Rt Rev Thomas Carr (1788-1859 [ [http://www.thepeerage.com/p8465.htm#i84644 thePeerage.com] ] ) was the inaugural Bishop of Bombay between 1836 and 1851 [ [http://rajkotcityguide.com/guide08/visit-rajkot Achievements in India] ] . In retirement he gave key evidence in a famous court case [The Times, Thursday, Oct 23, 1856; pg. 7; Issue 22506; col D "The Case Of Archdeacon Denison".] . He died at Bath on 5 September 1859. His grandson William Awdry was also a Bishop.
