Hadsund is a town in
Mariagerfjord municipality ,Region Nordjylland on the east coast of theJutland peninsula in northernDenmark .Until
January 1 ,2007 , Hadsund was also a municipality (Danish, "kommune") inNorth Jutland County The municipality covered an area of 170 km², and had a total population of 10,918 (2005). Its last mayor was Karl Christensen, a member of the Social Democrats ("Socialdemokraterne") political party.Hadsund municipality ceased to exist due to "Kommunalreformen" ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Arden,
Hobro , and Mariager municipalities to form the new Mariagerfjord municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 769 km² and a total population of 43,049 (2005).External links
