History
In the past Dundas has been best known for their developer components, which included Dundas Chart, Dundas Gauge and Dundas Map for .NET. Eventually it broadened its product line to include support for other Microsoft technologies by creating Dundas Chart, Dundas Gauge and Dundas Map for SQL Server Reporting Services, [5] Dundas Chart and Dundas Gauge for SharePoint and the Dundas Chart for .NET. A free chart builder was also made available. The Chart Builder was intended as a way for non-technical users (e.g., senior managers and graphic artists, etc.) to create charts/templates and then pass the results along to their developers.[citation needed] In 2007, Dundas Components were sold to Microsoft as a means to provide SQL Server 2008 charting capabilities within its SQL Server Reporting Services.[6][7]
In 2009 the company introduced a turnkey dashboard software solution called Dundas Dashboard, aimed to let users quickly build full dashboard systems. Written entirely in Silverlight technology, Dundas Dashboard is a web-based system that can be integrated into most browsers as well as most portals such as SharePoint.[8]
In 2010 Dundas announced that Dundas Components were "End of Life", due to the acquisition of the codebase by Microsoft, with an offer to continued support until Oct 31, 2011.[9]
Recognition
Dundas Software has been recognized multiple times as one of fastest growing Canadian companies, [10][11][12] and by 2007 it has reached a place within top 250 Canadian technology companies.
