- Eric Steel
Eric Steel is a
filmmaker and producer, most notable for his role in the production of " Shaft", " Angela's Ashes", and the controversial documentary " The Bridge". He graduated fromYale University in 1985."The Bridge"
Steel's most controversial work and his first attempt at directing is the 2006 documentary " The Bridge". In obtaining permits to film the bridge for one year, Eric Steel did not reveal to
Golden Gate Bridge officials that his goal was to film people committing suicide by leaping off the bridge. Instead he stated that his purpose was to make a film exploring the beauty and mystique of the Golden Gate Bridge. However, both Steel and bridge officials were aware that suicides along the bridge were a frequent occurrence, and that someone filming over the course of a year would inevitably capture them. The resulting footage was edited and turned into a movie exploring why the bridge is the one of the most popular suicide destinations in the world.Filmography
