- Halo James
Halo James was a British pop group active from 1988 to 1991.
Named after the main character from the
comic strip "The Ballad of Halo Jones ", the band was fronted by vocalistChristian James (born21 December 1964 ) and includedRay St. John (guitar, bass, songwriting; formerly of Pride) andNeil Palmer (keyboards; formerly of Atomage and Two People) among its members. They scored aTop Ten hit on theUK Singles Chart in January 1990 with their second single "Could Have Told You So", which became a major success all overEurope , and received critical acclaim for theirEpic Records album "The Witness", which peaked at #18 on theUK Albums Chart , and went on to sell over 100,000 copies in its first year of release.They had several other minor hit singles, but never hit the
Top 40 again, and disbanded in 1991.Following the demise of the band, St. John, who had previously co-written
Sade 's 1984 hit "Smooth Operator " prior to forming Halo James, remained active as asongwriter , and has written hit songs for several other artists, includingSnoop Dogg andGabrielle , and is now also a songwriter andrecord producer in theChristian rock andcountry music genres, whilst Palmer worked with Melanie between 1996 and 2001.Discography
