Acuball

Acuball

The Acuball is a patented self-healing tool for muscle and joint pain relief which uses 100% natural acupressure and heat to open tight, congested muscle, joint and connective tissue. It was developed over 7 years by Dr. Michael A. Cohen, a Canadian Chiropractor and Acupuncturist and released on the market in January 2007. The product is used by NBA and NHL athletes, as well as the National Ballet of Canada and the Canadian Olympic athletes at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Users lie, lean or sit with their Acuball behind them using the weight of their bodies to create an acupressure effect. The Acuball’s nibs loosen tight muscle fibers and stimulate blood flow, flushing out built up muscle toxins. The Acuball also features a groove running around the center called the Spine Align Belt, which allows users to lie directly on their spine loosening tight areas.

Development

The concept of self-healing became more and more interesting to Dr. Cohen as he traveled around the world studying native healing in various countries which could not afford doctor disseminated care. He was particularly interested in the Chinese, Tibetan and Amazonian native hospital systems. There he noted that self-healing was utilized as an integral part of the health system. Dr. Cohen believed this made a tremendous amount of sense as patients became more empowered to take care of themselves and the health care system reaped significant cost savings. Dr. Cohen experimented with these concepts and after 80 working prototypes, the Acuball had been developed.
