- Austrian Peace Service
The Austrian
Peace Service is the smallest of the three sectors of theAustrian Service Abroad . It offers the possibility to substitute the compulsory military service with a 12-month alternative service abroad. This non-profit organization was founded in 1998 byAndreas Maislinger .Nowadays there are three partner organizations which offers placements for Austrian peace servants:
* "UNITED for Intercultural Action " (Netherlands) - is the biggest European network againstnationalism ,racism ,fascism and in support ofmigrant s andrefugee s.
* "Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation " (Japan) - focused on abolishingnuclear weapons and creating peace in the world.
* "Alternative Information Center " (Israel) - is a Palestinian-Israeli organization which disseminates information, research and political analysis on Palestinian and Israeli societies as well as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
* "John Rabe and International Safety Zone Memorial Hall " (China) - located inJohn Rabe 's former residence during theNanjing Massacre , the Hall's main focus is to commemorate the heroic efforts ofJohn Rabe and the other members of theNanking Safety Zone to save innocent lives during the Nanjing Massacre.Other active main-areas of the
