Austrian Peace Service

The Austrian Peace Service is the smallest of the three sectors of the Austrian Service Abroad. It offers the possibility to substitute the compulsory military service with a 12-month alternative service abroad. This non-profit organization was founded in 1998 by Andreas Maislinger.

Nowadays there are three partner organizations which offers placements for Austrian peace servants:
* "UNITED for Intercultural Action" (Netherlands) - is the biggest European network against nationalism, racism, fascism and in support of migrants and refugees.
* "Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation" (Japan) - focused on abolishing nuclear weapons and creating peace in the world.
* "Alternative Information Center" (Israel) - is a Palestinian-Israeli organization which disseminates information, research and political analysis on Palestinian and Israeli societies as well as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
* "John Rabe and International Safety Zone Memorial Hall" (China) - located in John Rabe's former residence during the Nanjing Massacre, the Hall's main focus is to commemorate the heroic efforts of John Rabe and the other members of the Nanking Safety Zone to save innocent lives during the Nanjing Massacre.
