SafetySystem =SL79 is a series of 40
tram s operated by the Oslo Tramway. The series is built byDuewag of Germany with 25 units in 1982-84 andAsea Brown Boveri Strømmen with 15 units in 1989. Capacity is 163 passengers, of which 71 can be seated. The first batch is fitted with a single door at both sides of the rear (left and right), while the remaining 15 units have double doors only at the right side of the rear.The name derives from being ordered in 1979. The delivery was the first delivery of trams to Oslo in 25 years. The delay in new tram orders was due to the Oslo City Council deciding to close the tram operation in 1960, a decision lifted as late as 1977.
