Lilleakerbanen|The Lilleaker Line ( _no. Lilleakerbanen) is a suburban
tram way fromSkøyen inOslo westwards toJar ,Bærum inNorway . It is operated by Line 13 from Grefsen to Bekkestua of the Oslo tramway, operated byOslo Sporvognsdrift usingSL95 andSL79 articulated trams. The line continues on theT-bane (rapid transit) west of Jar as part of theKolsås Line , and as astreetcar system on the Oslo tramway system at Skøyen as theSkøyen Line .History
The line was opened in 1919 to Lilleaker by
Kristiania Elektriske Sporvei (the blue trams) with double-axled cars. In 1924 the City of Oslo bought the company along withKristiania Sporveisselskab (the green trams) and created Kristiania Sporveier, changing its name toOslo Sporveier the following year. Lilleakerbanen was excempt from the merger, and extended twice into Bærum, first to Bekkestua and then to Avløs, where a depot was built. In 1930 the line was extended as single track to Kolsås, though later rebuilt to double track. The line was named Bærumsbanen. In 1942 a track was laid between Jar and the station Sørbyhaugen on theRøa Line , connecting Bærumsbanen to theT-bane system. As a result, the Lilleaker Line changed terminus from Kolsås to Jar.
