- Claude des Armoises
-
Claude des Armoises was a female adventuress living in the 15th century. She was reportedly a soldier in the Pope's army in Italy. She married the knight Robert des Armoises.
With the help of Joan of Arc's brothers, Jean and Pierre, she claimed to be Joan of Arc alive and well in 1436. The deception ended in Paris in 1440, when she made a full confession to Charles VII.
She retired and had children, whose descendants survive today.
