Asahikawa University(旭川大学Asahikawa daigaku)is a university in Hokkaidō, Japan. The university became known for being party to a legal action involving the dismissal of a non-Japanese English as a Foreign Language teacher on grounds that the teacher having been a long term employee of the university and being married to a Japanese national had lost her 'freshness' and was unable to teach foreign culture. The case was subject to various appeals by both sides and was finally found in favor of the university as the Supreme Court declined to hear the employee's final appeal.
