1980 VFL Grand Final

The 1980 VFL Grand Final took place on September 27, 1980 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground between VFL clubs Collingwood and Richmond.

It was the first Grand Final for Richmond since 1974 while Collingwood had competed in and lost two of the last three, 1977 and 1979. Collingwood again finished on the losing team with Richmond winning by 81 points. It remained the greatest margin in Grand Final history Hawthorn surpassed it in 1983, and again in 1988. Richmond have not won a premiership since.

Norm Smith Medal

Richmond forward Kevin Bartlett won the Norm Smith Medal for his seven goals. His goal tally for the finals was 21 which saw him become just the fourth player in history to kick 20 or more in a finals series.
