Geoffrey Simmons

Geoffrey Simmons (1943) is a medical doctor, author, and intelligent design advocate in Eugene, Oregon. He has a BS in biology from the University of Illinois and received an M.D. from the University of Illinois Medical School in 1969. Simmons is a fellow at the Center for Science and Culture, part of the Discovery Institute. In early 2006 Physicians and Surgeons for Scientific Integrity, headed by Simmons, was established by the Discovery Institute as a nonprofit anti-evolution organization. Of its activities, the PSSI held a "Doctors Doubting Darwin" rally in September, 2006.

Intelligent design advocacy

Simmons has written two books about creation-evolution controversy, published by a Christian publishing house and promotes intelligent design creationism. Notably in 2008 he debated evolutionary biologist PZ Myers on KKMS radio.
