Geert de Meyer David CantréGood Shape was a Belgian Eurohouse
boysband in the 1990’s. They achieved major success inBelgium , especially during 1994-1995, and were signed by the Dutch sub-division of EMI Music “Dino Music”. The band consisted of Koen De Beir (producer / keyboards), Filip Vervaeke (singer), Geert de Meyer (singer) and David Cantré (lead singer). Most songs were written by Koen De Beir in association with other songwriters. They had the image of being “the perfect son-in-laws”. After departure of songwriter Koen De Beir in 1996 the three remaining members started the band Impact. However, with no single charted their success was no longer the same. Impact split up after only one release "(U R The Real Thing)". Band members David Cantré and Geert De Meyer also tried it asEuropop duo with B’Four. But after two singles they also stopped recording."Take My Love"
Their debut single “Take My Love” was released in 1993 and was written by Koen De Beir and Phil Sterman (Petra & Co). It was the next single “Give Me Fire”, written by Koen De Beir and Serge Ramaekers (T-Spoon, Confetti’s), that was Good Shape’s break-through hit. The single topped the chart in Belgium for 3 weeks in the summer of 1994. “Give Me Fire” received the Radio 2 “Summerhit 1994” award. Their third single was first released as a limited edition, but was quickly followed by the cd-single release. “King Of My ♥” became their second #1 (2 weeks) in the same year.As a result, their debut single “Take My Love” was released in The Netherlands and WEA Records signed Good Shape for the German market. In 1994 “Take My Love was re-released in Belgium. In the beginning of 1995 the band entered the Belgian chart with their debut album “Maniacs Of Love” (#36) with the than-biggest publicity campaign ever seen in Belgium. All over the country Billboards were hired to promote the album. Only 7 months after the first album Good Shape came up with a second album “Come Closer” (#11) in November 1995.
Other singles who were all released that year were ‘Close To You”, “I Can Love You / Bang Your Head”; I Will”, “Sing Like The Children” and “Stay The Night”. Never Gonna Give Up” was the last single written by Koen De Beir for Good Shape.
In 2006 the four did a one-time reunion performance for the Flemish television show “Swingpaleis”. At the time rumors were spread that Good Shape would make a come back. Former lead singer David Cantré denied those rumors.Although they “Give Me Fire” and “King Of My ♥” were both #1 hits in Belgium, their most popular song to-date is “Take My Love”. In 2008, the four were again invited for a one-time reunion on the Flemish music show "Tien om te Zien", to perform a remix of their most popular song "Take My Love".
