Banana Bungalow

Banana Bungalow is a chain of independently owned youth hostels in the United States started in the early 1990s by founders Keith Schwebel and Frank Buckley. It is considered to have changed the way hostels are run and still influences many modern youth hostels of today. These hostels bring together people from around the world and create maximized social interaction between guests and the City which they are visiting by creating an environment of community and sub-culture. People that travel through these hostels have a feeling of belonging to something, even though they might be traveling alone they will interact socially with many people. This is in contrast to traveler's of a hotel who check into their room and do not socialize. Banana Bungalow's success has also been a contributing factor in the rise in popularity of youth hostels in the United States today.
