Edmonton South (provincial electoral district)

Edmonton South was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada. The district was created in 1913, when the borders of Edmonton, Alberta expanded south. Edmonton was big enough to warrant adding a third seat. The other two seats were elected in a block vote in the Edmonton district.

Political history was made in this district when former Premier Alexander Rutherford was defeated in 1913, after being forced to resign as Premier. The election was a shock that would not be rivaled in South Edmonton until sitting premier Don Getty from Edmonton Whitemud was defeated in 1989.

The district merged with Edmonton West, and Edmonton East. to form the second incarnation of the Edmonton district.
