History

Born in Keelung, Pai became known for bantering in her local dialect. Beginning as a pop star, she later hosted a variety show.

For a period she was married to Ikki Kajiwara, a Japanese comics writer. She had one daughter with Kajiwara, Pai Hsiao-yen, born in 1980. "Akron Beacon Journal".] After Hsiao-yen was kidnapped and murdered in 1997, Pai Ping-ping became an advocate in favor of retaining the death penalty. Lloyd-Parry described the attention around the murder of Pai's daughter as giving Pai "a greater, though more terrible, fame than she had as an entertainer."

After Hsiao-yen's death Pai Ping-ping walked beside Master Xingyun in the lead during a parade at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial; the parade inaugurated the "Campaign of Compassion and Love."
