Wah lum pai

Wah lum pai

Wah Lum Pai (Wah Lum Style - literally "Glorious Forest Style") or Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu, is a style of Chinese Martial Arts. The style was created by Grandmaster Lee Kwan Shan who combined Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu with his familiar Tam Tui (Seeking Leg) style.

History

In the early 1900s Lee Kwan Shan, an already accomplished martial artist and body guard, entered the Wah Lum monastery of Ping To district in Shantung Province. Master Lee would spend ten years of his life training at the Wah Lum Temple where he studied the praying mantis style taught by fourth generation master Abbot Ching Yeung. After leaving the monastery Master Lee combined the mantis style with his family style, Tam Tui (Seeking Leg), and created Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu.
