Filmistan was a film production company of Indian film industry from
Goregaon , nearBombay . It was founded in 1943-44 by producerShashadhar Mukherjee , who came out ofBombay Talkies after directorHimansu Rai 's death. Mukherjee brought talents like actorAshok Kumar and directorGyan Mukherjee along with him. Filmistan produced a number of successful hit movies in 1940s and 1950s."Shaheed" (1948), "Shabnam" (1949) and "Sargam" (1950) were hit in the
box-office . "Anarkali" (1953) and "Nagin" (1954) were very successful."
Jagriti " (1954), "Munimji " (1955), "Tumsa Nahin Dekha" (1957) and "Paying Guest " (1957) were all hits.Nasir Hussain , who joined Filmistan in 1948 as a writer, was successful asscriptwriter for films like "Anarkali", "Munimji" and "Paying Guest".
