James A. Harrison

James Alistair Harrison was born in 1968 in Melbourne, Australia.

He is the President of the International Federation of Perioperative Nurses (I.F.P.N.), being the second Australian to hold this position. Former President of the Australian College of Operating Room Nurses (A.C.O.R.N.) [2008 I.F.P.N. Journal] Although born in Melbourne, James spent most of his formative years in Tasmania. He was a student of the Ulverstone High School and continued his study at the Don College at Devonport, Tasmania. He received his formal nursing training at the Launceston General Hospital at Launceston, Tasmania.

In the 2000s he became deputy director of nursing at St. Lukes Private Hospital, Launceston, Tasmania, where he continued until resigning and taking up a position at St. Lukes Health (Australia's 18th largest private health insurance company) as manager of clinical services.

He continues to practice "on call" at the Launceston General Hospital as an operating room nurse.
