The Theory of Everything is the fifteenth episode in the eighth season of the popular American crime drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" which is set in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The CBS recap describes the episode as the "weird science episode".

Plot

A drunk man arrested for killing a deer tries to escape from the police station. Police officers use pepper spray to subdue him, with little effect, and resort to a taser. The electric shock sets the man on fire and kills him. While investigating this incident, the CSI team comes across a number of dead people with green blood, and an elderly couple found dead in their bed without any apparent cause. All these cases turn out to be linked together through a number of unlikely coincidences.

Trivia

In order to see what caused the flames that killed a man, the team sets up various test using ballistics dummies. During an experiment to determine the cause of the man burning to death, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman from the T.V. show Mythbusters appear in the background, observing the experiment and taking notes. When a ballistics dummy is successfully lit on fire, the duo give an enthusiastic thumbs-up.

Another Discovery Channel easter egg is seen with Hodges investigating a crawl space underneath a house. While crawling on his back through a lot of dirt, Hodges resembles Mike Rowe who is the host of Dirty Jobs. Hodges says the word "dirty" three times in succession, as a homage to Rowe and Discovery Channel television show.

There are numerous Physics references in this episode: String Theory is mentioned on a few occasions, the crew discover a headstone for a cat named Schroedinger, and two of the suspects have the last name of Bohr and Planck.

During the first round of taser tests the Taser Incident at the University of Florida Kerry Forum is alluded to as Nick says, "Don't tase me, bro".
