Tara Jaff, (
1958 - ),(Kurdish: تارا ژئف) is a prominent contemporary Kurdish musician specializing inharp . Her family background is fromHalabja and she was born inBaghdad . She studied classical music andpiano at Baghdad's Musical Academy. In1976 , after being forced of school by theBa'ath party, she moved toUK to continue her studies, where she joined aChilean music band as a singer. Over the last thirty years, she has made a great effort in introducing the contemporary celtic harp to Kurdish folk music. Along with "Fran Hazelton" and "June Peters", She has founded "Zipang", i.e., Mesopotamian Storytelling Workshops. Tara Jaff is also a member of the organising committee of the annual "London Kurdish Film Festival".Albums
