NEWS (English: NEWS) was a free, ad-financed daily German language tabloid format newspaper in Switzerland, launched on 5 December 2007 and discontinued on 4 December 2009.[1] Its name is derived from the English word “News”.

NEWS like other Swiss commuter newspapers, was available in boxes at main transfer points of the public transport system of trains, trams and buses.

News was published by NP News Print AG, a joint effort of Tamedia (Tages-Anzeiger, Berner Zeitung) and Basler Zeitung Medien which also publishes the Basler Zeitung and the free Baslerstab. There were regional editions for Zürich, Bern, and Basel as well the middle land of the Swiss plateau. The editions for Bern and Basel ceased publication on 28 August 2009, the Zurich edition on 4 December 2009.

It is claimed that there were 334,000 examples issued. NEWS used to compete with other German-language, free, Swiss-newspapers such as: .ch, 20 Minuten and heute.
