The Wildcats played their home games in KSU Stadium. 1998 saw the wildcats finish with a record of 11-2, and a 8-0 record in Big 12 play. The season ended with a loss to Purdue in the 1998 Alamo Bowl.

The Wildcats were one win away from a National Championship berth, but lost in heartbreaking fashion to #10 Texas A&M in the Big 12 Championship Game in two overtimes.
