Domestic containment in 1960-1970 America

Domestic containment is the main type of ideology that was commonplace during the late 1940s into the 1960s. Many people still live by similar ideals, espically those with the financial means to. According to this ideology, a woman should be a mother, a housewife, and a devoted wife to her husband. Compermise was considered an integral part of family life, for all members, who were living in a distinctly new America than the previous generation.
