First Assembly Christian school (FACS) is a college preparatory school founded in 1976 as a part of the ministry of First Assembly Worship Center in Concord, North Carolina. The school began as a desire to assist the members of the church in the education of their children. It was an immediate success and continued to grow. By 1988 there were approximately 500 students in the school. The school has had steady growth and presently numbers 820.

FACS serves a diverse population. In 2006, 130 churches were represented within the student body. The students come from surrounding cities such as Concord, Kannapolis and Charlotte and many neighboring counties including Cabarrus, Rowan, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Stanley and Union County. The administration and pastoral staff believe that encouraging the admission of students from other areas and backgrounds provide a good opportunity to minister to the multitudes

Mission statement

It is the mission of First Assembly Christian School to provide a school in which each child may be taught the academic disciplines within a Christian context. It is also the school's mission to introduce every child to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives and to nurture their Christian growth.

Curriculum

The students who enroll at First Assembly Christian School receive an excellent education. The strong A Beka curriculum provides a strong academic background capable of supporting a student through a public high school or a university. Many scholarships have been awarded to students who have graduated from First Assembly. It is also believed that graduates of First Assembly are equipped spiritually to cope with the problems of life and know the One to whom they should depend upon.

Campus

The school was located at Rockland Circle in the 1970s, though the Worship Center was relocated to its present location at 150 Warren C. Coleman Boulevard in 1978. The Educational Center was not completed until 1988, and the school was relocated to its present location at that time. The current campus is home to separate elementary and high school buildings, a gymnasium, living center, worship center, two cafeterias, a multi-purpose room, a fully equipped playground, football, soccer and baseball fields.

High School

The high school is located 'down the hill' on it's own campus with a cafeteria, two gymnasiums, performance stage, and a computer lab and science lab. Each year, the number of applications greatly increases, but the number of students accepted remains the same. The high school is capped at 225 students each year. The curriculum allows for Advanced Placement (AP), honors, and regular courses in various subjects.

Fine arts

First Assembly provides several programs through which students may exhibit their talents. A middle and high school jazz band, choral and drama department and an extensive visual art department provide a full-scale arts experience. Students have opportunities to compete in regional as well as national exhibitions. A few of these opportunities are: Northeast Medical Student Art Exhibit, Scholastics Art & Writing Awards, ACSI Art Shows, and the FACS Juried Show.
