He practiced law in
Montreal , and became a senior partner in the firm ofMcMaster Meighen . DuringWorld War II , he was based in Halifax, Nova Scotia while serving in theRoyal Canadian Artillery . After the war he retired, with the rank of lieutenant colonel.He established the T. R. Meighen Family Foundation in 1969.

He is the father of Senator
Michael Meighen and brother ofLillian Meighen Wright . Following Theodore Meighen's death, his wife Peggy (Michael's mother) remarried to SenatorHartland Molson . Peggy remains the only Canadian to have both a son and a husband sitting in theSenate of Canada at the same time.External links
