Office of Indigenous Policy Coordination

The Office of Indigenous Policy Coordination (OIPC) has been a division within the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs from 24 January 2006. The current Minister is Jenny Macklin, who is the Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs in the Rudd Labor Government.

It is responsible for implementing and overall coordination of Australian Government policy and programs for Indigenous Australians. The responsibilities of the now disbanded Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Services were transferred to a number of other government departments.

It was previously part of the then Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA), the Minister was Amanda Vanstone.
