Itaim Paulista

Itaim Paulista is a situated district in the extreme east of the city of São Paulo.It is in the Itaim Paulista that if finds São Paulo the Station Itaim Paulista and the Station Jardim Romano (south part, being the part north of these pertaining stations to the District of Jardim Helena) of line 12 of the CPTM. It has existed for the city of Itaquaquecetuba through the Avenue Marshal Tito, Ferraz de Vasconcelos for the Av. Tibúrcio de Sousa or Itajuibe Street, and Poá for a bridge that passes on the stream Três Pontes "(Three Bridges)". It is essentially inhabited by northeasterns (bahian and pernambucanos), with store, banks, retails, attacked, shopping, supermarkets, hospitals and ranks of health. It around has one strong presence of protestants in the quarters, also counting on a considerable population catholic. It presents partner-economic divergences, with tarred streets, and a good basic sanitation. Recently the inauguration of the Shopping Itaim Paulista and the General Hospital of the Itaim Paulista occurred.

History

The territory where today it is the district of Itaim Paulista, at the beginning passed to be explored by the Portuguese in the 17th century, with the donation of semarias the Portuguese. The events that had marked the settling process had left of one would sesmaria. It consists that the period of 1610 and 1611 enters, the Bandeirante Domingos de Góes turned "sesmeiro" of lands of the region of "boi sentado" that is located in the neighborhoods of Tietê River. They had been passed to the control of the Carmelite priests in 1621. In this period Lady of the Biacica was constructed to a called chapel Ours (this name comes of tupi " imbeicica" or "liana resistente", easily found in Tietê River), chapel this that is considered as a landmark of the local settling. If to consider the probable date of the arrival the region of the bandeirantes and priests, the São Paulo Itaim would have 388 years. Officially the anniversary of the district is considered from the moment where the Itaim Paulista was emancipated of the District of Is São Miguel Paulista, that happened in the year of 1980.

Growth of the Itaim Paulista

The district had difficulties of growth for the fact of if locating next the great villages as São Miguel Paulista and Lageado. In the first centuries of settling, the Itaim Paulista was a compound of mansions farms and small farms. Discouraged for the problem of lack of structure and suffocated by the progress neighboring them. The São Paulo Itaim only started to receive inhabitants in the end from century 18. With the arrival of the railroad Road of Central the old North of Brazil in century 19, the Itaim Paulista started to live its cycle of development. The principle, this growth was slow, the houses had been appearing throughout the edges of the tracks. In the 1930s 1940s the production of bricks and roofing tiles on the part of potteries was the activity most lucrative in the region. In the 1950s, the Itaim Paulista was white of great transformations, to start for the occupation of the territorial space of sped up form. In 1957 the parish was installed of Is João Batista of the Itaim, this helped to speed up its growth.

Emancipation of the Itaim Paulista

In the 1970s, the city hall had necessity to decentralize its administration, with this, had been created the regional administrations. The regional administration of São Miguel Paulista was responsible also for the Itaim Paulista, only that the priority was the quarter of São Miguel Paulista and next regions to the commercial center. In the distribution of budget of the regional administrations for the city hall he was considered the population sum of the region. As the quarter of the São Paulo Itaim it thickened the population of the regional administration of Are São Miguel Paulista, the mount of money was always the third greater of all the city. The investments were always in the neighboring quarter, the Itaim Paulista were considered only one number favorable to this quarter.

On 19 May 1980, the Itaim Paulista was emancipated, and the mount of money of the city hall started to come directly to the Itaim Paulista, benefiting the local population.

Parish of Is João Batista

On 17 June 1951, the first chapel of the Itaim Paulista was constructed. The land for its construction was donated by the Cia. Bandeirantes S/A in 1950 passing the writing to the Bar of São Paulo. At the time, the Road Is Pablo-River passed to the side of the land and the water used for the construction of the old chapel was removed of the Itaim stream in wagons inside of tambores with capacity of 200 liters. Later, on 30 May 1953, the old chapel was eliminated to construct in the place a new parish. The construction was concluded on 15 December 1957. This parish eliminated in 2008 and will give place to a bigger, projected parish for an inhabitant of the Itaim Paulista.

Avenue Marshal Tito

With the arrival of Central railroad of Brazil the linkings between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro had been facilitated, but the road linking still very difficult age. In 1908 the French motorist Conde Lesdain, took 45 days to complete the passage of car between the two cities. The Mayor Washington Luis (1914-1919) Privileged the urban road system, valuing the old tracings of the colonial period as President of the State of São Paulo (1920-1924) and President of the Republic (1926-1930) adopted the motto " to govern is to open roads". The Avenue Marshal Tito is the main artery of the district of the Itaim Paulista, in this avenue the development was more expressive and the district has of more important. The pavement was composed of parallelopipeds. With the emancipation of Itaim Paulista, the way started to have its current name in homage to the President of then Yugoslavia died in 1980, years later this saw was tarred.

Itaim Paulista Station

The Variant of Poá (or Variant of Calmon Vianna), had the contrução initiated in 1921 to facilitate to the trip of the load trains because of its few curves if compared with the branch of São Paulo, being that the construction of São Paulo the Itaim Station was finished and the building inaugurated on 7 February 1926, but the line was only opened on 1 January 1934 after eight years of interruption of the workmanships. The station on 1 March 1962 the vapor received the last train from the line, it bound to the Station Roosevelt until São Paulo the Itaim Station. From 1994 it passed to be operated by CPTM. In the year of the 2006, building most recent (constructed in 1979) the project of modernization of was eliminated for the construction of a new station in accordance with line 12 of the CPTM, on 28 May 2008 the new station was concluded.

The name

The name "Itaim" comes of Tupi-Guarani and means "Little Stone".

Hidrography

The Region is cut by three streams in felt North-South highway that empty in the Rio Tietê "(Tietê River)". They are: Itaim, Tijuco Preto, Três Pontes "(Three Bridges)" and Ribeirão Lageado "(Brook Lageado)". These streams already had been sources of income for the inhabitants of the region, today are dirty as the river where they empty.
