"Along Comes Mary" is a song composed by Tandyn Almer, originally recorded in 1966 by The Association, and released on their debut album "And Then... Along Comes the Association". It was their first hit and reached #7 on the U.S. charts. It has been covered by several artists, most notably the The Manhattan Transfer. Leonard Bernstein admired the song, and included a short analysis of it in the "What is a Mode?" episode of his Young People's Concerts series.

For decades, the song has been rumored to be secretly about marijuana. Similar claims have been made about "Puff, the Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul and Mary.

The Bloodhound Gang version

More recently The Bloodhound Gang covered only the lyrics, but claimed that the song was about marijuana and wrote new music to accompany them for the "Half Baked" soundtrack, although it later appeared on their album "Hooray for Boobies". This song was released as a single in Germany and became a big hit reaching #6 there in 1999.

Punk band Circle Jerks have also covered this song.
