Haringey Heartlands

Haringey Heartlands is a currently ongoing urban regeneration project in the London Borough of Haringey. The site is located West of Shopping City in Wood Green. The aim of the development is "to create a vibrant and attractive new urban quarter which acts as the civic and cultural Heart of Haringey, integrating with and benefiting wider communities. The newly-named Heartlands will centre on the new Clarendon Square and spine road (to be named Mary Neuner road, after the former mayor of the borough) [ [http://www.haringey.gov.uk/spine_road.htm Spine Road agreement kick-starts Haringey's biggest regeneration scheme: Haringey Council ] ] [ [http://www.haringey.gov.uk/index/news_and_events/latest_news/newlinkroad.htm Link road to be named after former Mayor: Haringey Council ] ] , based around Brook Road, Clarendon Road and Western Road. It will be the site for 1300-1500 new homes [ [http://www.haringeyheartlands.com/HARINGEY/page.php?PCN=Index Haringey Heartlands - Welcome to Haringey Heartlands ] ] , as well as small business space, a 20 storey Landmark tower, and open spaces and play areas.

A £4.6m government grant to Transport for London and Haringey Council [ [http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/archive/3645.aspx TfL welcomes £5m transport boost for Haringey | Transport for London ] ] meant that civil engineering started on the spine road through the site in Spring 2008.
