Matthew Henry Phineas Riall Sankey CB, CBE was an Irish engineer from County Tipperary who created the Sankey diagram. He served as a captain of the British Army in the Royal Engineers until leaving to become an engineer. He returned to serve as a staff officer during World War I which earned him a CBE.
He was also President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.[1]
In 1898, M.H.P.R. Sankey's published the first energy flow diagram (a visualisation to be christened 'Sankey diagram') (from the Minutes of Proceedings of The Institution of Civil Engineers. Vol. CXXXIV, Session 1897-98. Part IV)[2]References
