Charles O'Rear , a resident of St. Helena, Napa County, for digital-design company HighTurn. O'Rear has also taken photographs forBill Gates ' private Seattlestock photography companyCorbis and Napa Valley photographs for the May 1979 "National Geographic Magazine" article "Napa, Valley of the Vine". Although O'Rear's focus was on photographing winemaking in the Napa Valley, the hill in Bliss didn't have grapevines when the photograph was being taken in the late 1990s. This was because of a bug infestation in the grapes as a result of which the entire vineyard had to be pulled out, and the hill was covered by only grass.
