- Bywell Castle
Bywell Castle is situated in the village of
Bywell overlooking the River Tyne, four miles east ofCorbridge ,Northumberland ,England (gbmapping|NZ049615). It is aGrade I listed building and aScheduled Ancient Monument [ [http://www.ecastles.co.uk/philipdavis/English%20sites/2443.html Gatehouse Gazetteer] ]It was built in
1430 by the Neville family (seeEarl of Westmorland ) but was never completed. The impressive three storeygatehouse remains.
