51Give (which means 'I want to give' in Chinese) is an organization that allows people to lend money via the Internet to individuals and small businesses in China. It is a social venture headquartered in Beijing.

51Give provides a revolutionary carbon-friendly micro-finance platform with the next generation internet and mobile technologies, which connects individuals, international companies / institutions and local financial institutions.

51Give partnered with Camco, Postcom, and the Austrian embassy in Beijing to create 51SIM a Corporate Social Responsibility alliance also based in Beijing.

51SIM took an active part in the China International Youth Arts Week, which was held in the first week of July 2008. 51SIM helped to organize a special production of the Closing Ceremony for the festival. The ceremony, hosted by 51SIM, CICCC and CCTV 4 was filmed at the Great Hall of the People to an audience of 6,000 guests. The show’s environmental theme was endorsed by famous Asian rockstar and 51SIM’s Goodwill Ambassador Qi Qin (Chyi Chin) who has worked on environmental awareness programs in China with the United Nations since 2003, and the internationally acclaimed and award winning Chinese film actress and singer Zhou Xun, who is also the first United Nations Development Programme Goodwill Ambassador for China.

    How it works

Step 1:Register on [http://www.51give.com/publicpages/register.php 51Give] . From there you can support microfinance by loaning or donating, get 51Give certificates for friends, or buy merchandise to support the 51Give foundation.

Step 2:Consider a project you would like to support. Each project has a description page, and also a meter showing how much funding it has already received.

Step 3:Select the project you would like to support and donate or lend to that project.

Step 4:Track the status of your loan or donation online. This way you can see exactly what happens to your money throughout the process.

Step 5:Loans get paid back. In your account you can track which repayments have been made. "'After loans have been repaid, use the same money to help another person in the exact same way! "'
