Dudley Marjoribanks, 3rd Baron Tweedmouth
- Dudley Marjoribanks, 3rd Baron Tweedmouth
-
Dudley Churchill Marjoribanks, 3rd Baron Tweedmouth (2 March 1874 – 23 April 1935) was the son of Edward Marjoribanks, 2nd Baron Tweedmouth and Fanny Spencer-Churchill. He served in the Boer War, was Lieutenant-colonel and Lord-in-waiting to George V and Edward VII[1]. He was said to be an excellent shot and had an amiable personality but had financial difficulties throughout his life[1].
He succeeded his father as the 3rd Baron Tweedmouth and is thus descended from Joseph Marjoribanks, a wine and fish merchant in Edinburgh who died in 1635. Joseph is thought to have been the grandson of Thomas Marjoribanks of Ratho[1], head of the lowland Clan Marjoribanks[2]. Dudley had two daughters so the title Baron Tweedmouth became extinct on his death.
