Moscow Oblast ,Russia , located on theMoskva River , 40 km southeast ofMoscow .The
urban-type settlement of "Stakhanovo" was founded in 1935 from thedacha settlement "Otdykh" (literally, "Relaxation"). It was named afterAlexey Stakhanov - a famous miner in theSoviet Union . Later in 1947 received thetown status and renamed to Zhukovsky after the pioneer of aero- andhydrodynamics Nikolai Zhukovsky .Zhukovsky is a home to the M. M. Gromov Flight Research Institute known as "LII" and N. Ye. Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute known as (ЦАГИ) TsAGI — they are two major facilities involved in testing and designing aircraft. These facilities were employers for a great portion of the city's population before
