John J Donovan (born 1942) is a former professor of Electrical Engineering and Management at MIT and a professor of pediatrics at Tufts University. Since retiring from academia, he has been a successful serial entrepreneur, founding nearly a dozen technology companies and amassing an estimated fortune of $100 Million.

Donovan's business success has been marred by recent battles with his family. Accusations of child molestation from his daughter surfaced in 2002. In addition, several legal battles have been waged with four of his five children over claims to his fortune and real estate holdings. He was released from the hospital after one night and told police that he suspected that his son had arranged the shooting. On August 17, 2007 he was found guilty of filing a false police report in that incident.
