Parmenion (architect)

Parmenion was an architect [Art in the Hellenistic Age Page 276 by Jerome Jordan Pollitt ISBN 0521257123] , who was employed by Alexander the Great in the building of Alexandria. He was entrusted with the superintendence of the works of sculpture, es­pecially in the temple of Serapis (Serapium), which came to be called by his name Parmenionis [Julius Valerius Alexander Polemius i. 35.] . Clement of Alexandria [Ancient Art and It's Remains, Or, A Manual of the Archæology of Art Page 132 By Karl Otfried Müller, Friedrich Gottlieb Welcker ISBN 1421267896] , however, ascribes the great statue of Serapis to Bryaxis. He is also mentioned by Vitruvius [Textual Studies in Ancient and Medieval Geometry Page 53 By Wilbur Richard Knorr ISBN 0817633871]
