The Photographers' Gallery was founded in London in 1971 and was the first independent gallery in Britain that was devoted entirely to photography [ [http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F70D16FB3C5C1A7A93C6A91789D85F478785F9 "In London, Photography is Still not Art] , New York Times, 1973] . It regularly features exhibits by internationally renowned photographers, and it host the prestigious annual Deutsche Börse Photography Prize [ [http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2008/02/19/baphoto119.xml Deutsche Börse Photography Prize] , Telegraph, 2008] .

In 2011, the Photographers' Gallery plans to move from its present location near Leicester Square to a new Soho location [ [http://www.photonet.org.uk/index.php?plid=936 Plans for new Photographers' Gallery] ] .
