Tory Reform Group , having previously served as editor of the group's magazine "Reformer", and he was selected to be the Conservative parliamentary candidate for theWarley East constituency in 1992. The seat was held by incumbent Labour MP Andrew Faulds. He also served as a Conservative councillor on Camden council, acting for a time as the group's Education spokesman. As Chairman of the Tory Reform Group, he called on Tory Party leader William Hague to sack backbench MP John Townend for apparently racist comments (see bbc source below).ources
