- Montrose Crossing
Montrose Crossing is an open-air shopping center located in
Rockville, Maryland . The shopping center consists of three parts. The original section, opened in the 1960s, consists of Giant Food,Sports Authority , various resaurants, salons, andMarshalls . The second section, opened in 1998, consists of a small two-story complex featuringBarnes & Noble , a few other specialty stores, and Tara Thai restaurant on the ground level of a four-story parking deck, which features a neon-lit glass elevator. An addition to this section in March 2007 added a 20-story residential condominium (Midtown Bethesda North), including a 5-story parking deck, which is above ground but below the condominium, therfore, the condos start at level 6. The condos and parking deck are adjacent to the four-level deck, built in 1998. The third section of the complex, opened April 5, 2005, added a 2-story "Urban" Target store, with checkouts and exits on both levels to a six-story parking deck.The complex is located at the intersection of
Maryland Route 355 (Rockville Pike) and Randolph/Montrose roads. The state of Maryland plans to convert this congested intersection to a grade-separated interchangeFact|date=May 2008, and eliminating the train crossing on Randolph Rd, causing traffic to shift 100 yards on the new Montrose Parkway. The parkway will have a grade-separated interchange with MD-355, and an overpass over the railroad.
