EZcode

EZcode

A EZcode is a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code) created by ETH Zurich and licensed by Scanbuy (www.scanbuy.com).

EZcode is a 2-dimensional code that was created and designed specifically for mobile phones. Compared to other types of 2D barcodes, the optimized code design of EZcode offers major benefits:

• Space efficiency.

• Small decoder footprint.

• Minimal handset hardware requirements: low processor speed, no need for autofocus function or macro lens.

• Ease of decoding.

Scanner software for the EZcode is available from ScanLife (www.scanlife.com) for many phones across operating systems including BREW, Java, RIM, Symbian, Windows, and Palm. The software works by decoding a picture taken with the phones camera and sending that information to an application server that in turn sends the content back to the phone in seconds.

The reader can be downloaded from a mobile browser at www.getscanlife.com.
