"Soirée disco" is a 1996 song recorded by the DJ Philippe Dhondt under the pseudonym of Boris. It was released as the first single from his eponymous debut album in the first weeks of January 1996. It achieved a great success in France and Belgium, topping their charts.

Background

The song's lyrics and music were composed by Bruno van Garsse, M. de San Antonio, Benoît Marissal and Philippe Dhondt (the latter was actually a former member of the band Pleasure Game, [Philippe Dhondt's officiel website [http://www.philippedhondt.com/index2.html Philippedhondt.com] (Retrieved April 9, 2008)] whom hit "Le Dormeur" peaked at #9 in 1991 in France). "Soirée disco" is a funny song in which the singer explains the disco party that he is organizing in his house.

Charts performances

In France, the single debuted at the bottom of the French SNEP Singles Chart, at number 43, but gained quickly a few places every week and managed to top the chart on March 16, in its eighth week. However, it was replaced at #1 the following week by the huge hit "Children", by Robert Miles, but stayed for six consecutive weeks at number 2, then for four weeks at number 3. There it remained for two weeks and eventually peaked at #1 for seven consecutive weeks.
